APPLE CORE TOUR

HOOD RIVER, OR | OCTOBER 2018

Apples, vintage Chevrolets, and fun! The club toured from Portland to the Hood River area again this year to visit the orchards of the Ing Family.  Ray and Mary Holland have organized this tour over the years, and it’s always a big hit. Leaving from Troutdale, vintage Chevrolets toured up the Columbia Gorge (or up Hwy. 26 round our famous Mount Hood), meeting up at Hood River, Oregon. The club toured a huge apple processing warehouse managed by Ed Ing. The warehouse had been burned in a major fire and rebuilt. The tour was very educational, as we learned more about the fruit process industry, an important part of Oregon’s economy. We had a wonderful lunch followed by picking or selecting five varieties of apples from the Ing’s private orchards. Thank you Ing family!
