Annual Awards & Installation Banquet

TIGARD, OR | January 2020

“Celebrating a Great 2019 and Looking Forward to the New Year”

The Embassy Hotel was a new venue for this year’s annual Columbia River Region VCCA awards and installation banquet. Nearly 100 members attended the event.

Each year we give out “Good Louis” awards for members who provide special help to a fellow member. We had 19 Good Louis awards to hand out this year. Awards ranged from help with changing a member’s tire who got a flat during a tour (and didn’t have a jack!) to visiting a member who was “under the weather.”

We also recognize members who bring new vehicles into the club for tours or bringing them to membership meetings. Called the “Debutante Award,” we had 12 new (old) Chevrolet and GMCs join in for the fun, with the oldest bring a 1918 490 Chevrolet touring car and the newest a 1991 Silverado pickup truck.

Several members were also recognized for their contributions to the club over the previous year. Members cast votes, with the top 5 members receiving acknowledgement as Contributing Members and the top vote-getter crowned Outstanding Member of the Year. This year’s contributing members were David Gowan, David Koetje, Jim Schoffstall, and Ed Gallagher.  And outstanding member of the year was Betty Shannon!

The 2020 Board of Directors were also officially installed:

  • Ed Gallagher, Director

  • Ron Becker, Asst. Director

  • Brenda and Joe Taylor, Treasurer(s)

  • Earl Marble, Membership Secretary

  • Ellie Pilate, Editor

  • Betty and Don Shannon, Historians

  • Cindi Wolfe, Tour Coordinator

Members thanked Stu Brahm for his excellent work as Editor in 2019.

The club is looking forward to more good times together in the “Roaring Twenties”, enjoying friendships and our vintage Chevys (and GMC’s).
